The 5 Spiritual Principles of Reiki with Kelli Martin

In this first video of the five principles of reiki, we will begin with a short meditation. Let's get centered, have a nice comfortable seat, whether on a mediation cushion or just an easy pose. Sit up nice and tall, close your eyes, and now take a nice deep breath in, open mouth. Now start to breathe in and out of your nose and take long full breaths in. Allow your belly to expand. Exhale. Begin to descend your breath and pull your belly button back towards your spine.

Now as you continue to breathe internally recite to yourself just for today I will let go of anger. Again, just for today I will let go of anger. Just for today I will let go of worry. Again, just for today I will let go of worry.
Now just for today I will be humble. Just for today I will be humble. Just for today I will be honest in my work. I'm going to say it again. Just for today I will be honest in my work.
Finally, just for today I will have compassion for myself and for others. Just for today I will have compassion for myself and for others.

Continue to take a long breaths in and really long extended exhales and perhaps notice if there was one of the five principles that stuck out to you. Maybe one you need to focus on a little bit more, perhaps give more energy to.


Take five more breaths here. When you're ready just very slowly start to open your eyes and again come back to the reiki principle that stuck out for you. There's usually one or maybe two, maybe five, that sticks out to you in a day. For me, they change quite often. There's usually one that's a little bit more apparent than the rest. Most days my mantra that I need to stick to is just for today have compassion for myself and others, mostly for myself. I tend to struggle finding compassion for me.

Just for today do not anger. I usually have that when I'm driving. That's a really great mantra for me to focus on when I'm driving. Perhaps you have that same experience.

What Reiki is, and how to use it in your personal life  with Kelli Martin

In this second video Kelli will share with you a little bit about what Reiki is and how everyone can use it in his or her personal life.
 

Reiki is universal energy. Rei meaning universal, and Ki, just like chi or prana or energy, is just energy. Therefore, it spells out universal energy. It's just energy that's all around us, within everything in creation. We are able to channel or pull that energy into our body and give it to ourself to receive.


To start our reiki meditation practice we will first bring our palms together. Start to rub your palms together. Create this really nice, warm healing heat within your palms. Perhaps close your eyes if that helps you concentrate a bit better. Now just bring your palms together and press, press, press as hard as you can into your palms until it almost feels like you're pressing on a piece of glass or something really hard and solid. Press, press, press. Now start to ease up, and pull your palms apart about one inch and kinda hover there. Perhaps notice any sensation in the center of your palms.

Let's do that again. Bring your palms together and press, press, press as hard as you can very, very firmly. Again, now pull your palms apart about one inch, and just observe any sensations you might be experiencing between your palms. Now do that again. Press your palms together. This time pull your hands apart about six inches. Bring your palms back towards one another. Start to pull and press your palms together and apart on your own. Really just become aware of sensation in your palms, sensation between your hands. You might even start to feel that energy that we call reiki. You might even be able to create a shape with it, perhaps make a nice little reiki ball. I like to visualize a golden ball of light in the center of my hands.

Now when you feel ready, you can bring your hands to the very top of your head. You can chose to either hover over your head or even just place your hands directly on top of your head. Remember to breathe; Take nice full breaths in and long, long breaths out. We'll take two more breaths right here. Now slowly allow your hands to drift all the way down to your ears, and you can cup your ears. Again, just breathe. Allow your body to relax and let your mind relax. As we're hovering over our ears, we'll just take two more breaths here.

Slowly drift your hands down to your chest and just place your hands right on the center of your heart, heart space. Again, just return right back to your breathing. Perhaps you start to feel the warmth from your palms. You might even be washed with the sense of relaxation.
Now we'll move our palms down to our stomach, the center of your belly. Just go ahead and bring your palms there. Notice any sensations that you're feeling now. Sometimes these sensations that you start to feel might be emotions. Perhaps there's an emotion coming up for you, that's not uncommon in reiki.

Now we'll finish our self practice with just bringing our palms to our lower back. As you place your palms there, again, close your eyes, come right back to your breathing. Notice how you are feeling right now in this moment. Again, we'll just take two more breaths here.
When you're ready, you can bring your palms back to your lap or anywhere that feels comfortable to you. Open your eyes.

Anyone has the ability to practice reiki. You don't necessarily need the attunement to be able to channel the energy within you. The attunement comes along with the practice of reiki, which has a whole system behind it. If you're interested in that, there's many reiki masters that are so amazing out there, and I'm sure you can find one in your area.
